Yes, our soaps are made using lye (caustic soda and water) as all cold process soaps are. However, the amounts of lye and oils are carefully calculated to ensure there is no lye left in the final product. Our soaps are very soft and gentle on your skin.
Why are handmade soaps better?
The ingredients, the skill and care taken and the rich glycerin that has been left in the soap make them special. Handmade soaps are better because all the goodness is left in and all the oils and butters are chosen for their skin-nourishing qualities. We are passionate about our products and we love what we do - that passion is passed onto you through our beautiful soap.
How should I take care of my soaps?
All our soaps are cured for a minimum of four weeks, which means they have been given the chance to harden, so they last much longer. The best way to care for your soap is to use a soap dish to ensure your soap stays dry between uses. If you’re not going to use your soap straight away, store it in a cool place out of direct sunlight. Do not store your soaps in an airtight container as they need to breathe.
I am allergic to soap . . .
Many people who are sensitive to commercial soaps find that they can use and enjoy handmade soap. We do have an unscented range specifically for people with sensitivities. Some of our products are made using oils from nuts, so please read the ingredients list carefully and just like any new product you try, if you have any problems at all, immediately discontinue use.
What about sustainability?
Our soaps are handmade in small batches and we use only natural ingredients in our soaps and bath products and aim to keep things simple without adding unnecessary ingredients. Our soaps are neatly packaged with a simple paper label. Our hamper boxes are also made from recycled paper.
